盒子的簡介

盒子於1987年成立，為本地重要的另類音樂組織。創立人龔志成及彼得小話所探索及發展的獨特音樂及表現形式已深植於本地的文化創作中。他們的作品包括原創的樂章及歌曲；風格揉合傳統、民間、流行、前衛音樂。而他們的創作特色是探索及結合不同的藝術風格以「好玩」的形式演出多層次的音樂劇場；而演出以音樂串連整體脈絡創造一個統一主題由音樂及影像構成的演出。盒子大部份的作品與文學的關係密切，作品如第四面《橋》（卡夫卡）、第七面《睡美人》（川端康成及童話）、第十面《勾月》（聖經故事莎樂美）、第十三面《瘋人秀》（童話美女與野獸）。

 

龔志成於美國修讀音樂，為表演音樂人，為多個劇場及舞蹈演出作曲、及教師。彼得小話為插畫人、作家、音樂人及劇場演員。

 
Since first establishing the music group the box in Hong Kong in 1987, composers and performers Kung Chi Shing and Peter Suart have been exploring and developing a unique form of music theatre whose artistic expression is strongly rooted in Hong Kong's energy and cultural environment. Their music, which includes both original instrumental works and songs, is an evocative hybrid of classical, folk, pop and avant-garde. Their performances have ranged from theatrically presented concerts to full-blown music theatre works. In each of their productions, the music is linked to a strong visual environment and is enhanced by narrative and theatrical elements. The power of the performances is further enhanced by Kung and Suart's active collaboration with outstanding local performers such as Juila Mok and Chan Wai Fat, both of whom are frequently being involved in recent productions.They self-released a CD, BOX GO HOME, in 1993.

 This performance began with the story of Salome. We have studied Oscar Wilde?s play and the biblical source as well as paintings about the story by Gustave Mreau, Gustav Klimt and others. Whilst we have explored the main characters, their relationships and their symbolism, the show remains a free-ranging interpretation.

 After the six years cooperation pause between Suart and Kung, Captain Kink's Cabinet, this concert will feature Kung (Electric violin, flute, voice, guitar, toys), Suart (piano guitar voice, percussion, dog), and two guest musicians; Chan Wai Fat (Electric and acoustic guitar, gadgets) and Julia Mok (keyboards, voice, feet).

 Rum on the balcony. Under-rehearsed. Fat Jai sick on arrival. Julia delayed by typhoon. Looking good for gig in Havana. Somehow went off quite well. Very tight rock/latin band played after us. Fans did disturbing zombie dance. Chiara in white stole curtain call. Night train to Santiago. No aircon. Very polite military guards. Quiet. Two gigs. Getting better all the time. Rum on the patio. Farewells. Night train to Havana. Starlit. Rum on the balcony. Cigar and beer by a violet sea. The band goes to pieces – Mexico, Canada, England. Thanks to Antonio Prades Hung for organising the whole event, to his wife Barbara for hospitality and yummy food, to the Cuban Ministry of Culture for support and to countless other Cubans for their warmth. Thanks to the donors from Hong Kong, especially the Mystery Donor who bailed out the entire Nature project. May your kindness come back to you a thousand-fold.
